STOP HRL

Above is Channel 10 coverage of the STOP HRL RALLY on 1 February 2012. Nearly 500 people gathered on the steps of Victoria's Parliament House to demand the Victorian Government withdraw their $50 million grant for HRL's new coal powerstation. We also want the Federal Government to withdraw their $100 million grant to HRL.

THIS IS IMPORTANT. CAN YOU MAKE THREE PHONE CALLS?

On Thursday 9 February, Environment Victoria and Greenpeace will be in Canberra to support Kelvin Thomson MP (Labor MHR for Wills) when he tables our petition requesting the $100 million Federal Government Grant to HRL to be withdrawn.

At the same time, Environment Victoria are asking everyone who wants to stop new coal powerstations being built to support this action.

Environment Victoria, Greenpeace and LIVE, are asking you to lend your voice to that action – no matter where we are on the day.

WHEN:    12-2pm Thursday 9 February
WHERE:  Wherever you happen to be
WHAT:     Showing the decision makers how much we want HRL defunded,
                 and renewable energy built
HOW:       Leaving your message for Julia Gillard, Martin Ferguson and Penny Wong

Go to Environment Victoria's website for the full details of the action, with the phone numbers to ring. Please mark the time in your diary now.
